I think we can all agree that Chex Mix is amazing. It’s like the go to snack in my house. One thing we also love is a little hot sauce. Heat in a dish just elevates the flavor and my family puts it on almost anything. When I grill chicken, there will be hot sauce on the table. When I make fried fish sandwiches, they douse it with hot sauce, even French fries and vegetables too. This buffalo Chex mix recipe was made by special request from my brothers and it is gone in two days! I’ve learned to hide a few containers of this for myself in fear that I won’t get any. When it comes to using hot sauce, more specifically buffalo style hot sauce we are very particular about which kind we use. All my life I have been told Frank’s is the best and we haven’t stocked our pantry with any other kind for as long as I can remember.
Now what exactly is it about Buffalo sauce that makes it my number one choice? Well for starters the sauce is made differently from regular hot sauce. It’s regular hot sauce but beefed up with more butter and spices like garlic. Because it’s made with these extra ingredients it’s not as hot as regular hot sauce which is only made with peppers and vinegar, talk about a mouth kicker. I’ve played around with other hot sauces for this recipe but they either lack in flavor or the spice is too overwhelming which is why I think Buffalo is best. But of course there is more that goes into this delicious recipe besides hot sauce. I added ranch seasoning, Worcestershire and garlic. My favorite add ins are hot and spicy cheese-its as well as some regular pretzels. I also found that hot buffalo wing pretzel bites are also great if you can take all the heat. Add what you’d like, prepare yourself for a highly addictive treat and serve this at the next get together, it’s sure to please the crowd!
